Course Overview

This City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn aspects of Beauty, Media Make-up & Hairdressing.

The course is designed around 3 Main Projects that cover all 12 units needed to fulfil the qualification. These projects allow each student to take creative control and really show case their skills.

This course is best suited to students who have an artistic flare and can work with a positive & enthusiastic attitude.

Unit 202 – Follow Health & Safety in the salon
Unit 203 – Client care and communication in beauty related industries
Unit 209 – Apply Make-up
Unit 210 – Provide eyelash and brow treatments
Unit 212 – Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
Unit 220 – The Art of Photographic Make-up
Unit 221 – Body Art design
Unit 223 – Apply skin tanning techniques
Unit 226 – The Art of colouring hair
Unit 227 – The Art of dressing hair
Unit 310 – Make and style a hair addition

1 Year

A combination of Tutor led demonstrations, student participation & practice, theory delivery and commercial salon that will led on to formative & summative assessments.

Your practical skills will be assessed via both practical formative & summative observations, using real life models, online theory exams and written assignments. This will help you build a portfolio of evidence to use throughout your qualification and to also showcase your technical skills.

Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma in Hair and Media Make-Up

16-19 year olds will study Maths and/or English if this GCSE is not achieved on entry. Students will attend Industry placement part of their full study programme.

Compulsory Trips include – Pinewood Studios behind the scenes & Warner Brothers Studio for backstage workshops based on the art of movie make-up.

This level 2 qualification could lead to an apprenticeship within hair and media makeup, theatrical work within TV and Film.

A Kit & Uniform must be purchased within 6 weeks of enrolling for the course. Details of the Kit & Uniform are handed out during the enrolment process. Bursaries are available for those who are eligible – subject to individual assessment.
