Course information

This programme leads you through several modules including: game processes, technical and coding skills, audio production, VFX, design and research, character diversity, and player engagement.

2 years (the first year can be taken alone, awarding you a Level 3 Diploma; the second year doubles this to the full Level 3 Extended Diploma).

As well as practical classes, there will be theory lessons, group discussions, trips to exhibitions and masterclasses with professional developers.

Assessment will come from various assessed projects, including presentations, research tasks, journals, game analysis logs and videos. At the end of both years, there will be a major independently-led project, taking your own game from concept to production.

UAL’s Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology – Games Design

We will give you the tools and contacts to secure industry placements with games developers, to give you real professional experience.

This two year programme is the equivalent of 3 A-levels so whether you want to open the door to doing a degree in the gaming sphere, apply for a job with your favourite AAA developer, or set up your own company, this course can take you there.

Level 3

The games industry is a thriving, exciting place to work – but it does require self-motivation. Almost half of the course involves independent working: putting in the hours coding, animating and researching.
