Course Overview

A 4 week course for those completely new to computers and mobile devices.

This course is fully funded and provides free study if you:

· Are a UK resident
· Are aged 19 and over
· Do not have the essential digital skills required to operate effectively in work and day to day life

The tutor will tailor the learning programmes to meet individual learner needs. They will take into consideration the types of digital skills that learners want to develop and the circumstances in which they want or need to use these.

You will be using standard computers in the class– you are however most welcome to bring your own laptop or tablet.

We start from the very beginning, the keyboard and mouse, and the screen along with where things are. The course covers

Logging in, passwords & security
Typing and mouse skills
Browsing, webpages and tabs
Searching online
Links and navigation
Setting up, sending and receiving E mails
Shopping, banking and other online services safely
Introduction to Office skills to include Word and Excel

These are essential skills in today’s world, and important that we do them safely.

Once you have mastered this you will be ready to progress onto the Essential Digital Skills E3 or Level 1 qualification

Entry Requirements

Basic command of the English Language at E3 level preferably.

Course information

2.45 hours over 4 weeks.

Practical activities only, there are no exams on this course.

Essential Digital Skills E1 or Level 1 qualification.
Employment opportunities or L1 courses at the college such as Employability Skills.
