UKSPF FUNDED ADULT AND COMMUNITY LEARNING COURSES A TRIUMPH

News overview

Slough & Langley College delivered three sets of five-session workshops aimed at equipping community members with essential life skills, funded by the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

These sessions were run by the Adult Learning team, and enabled members of the local community the opportunity to increase their day-to-day skills, enhancing their career and educational prospects.

The workshops were held at the Romsey Close Centre, with ten participants completing all five sessions.

Over the duration of the course, students covered the following topics:

  • Resilience and wellbeing
  • Confidence building
  • ESOL support
  • Digital Skills
  • Next Steps and individual Plan

The feedback has been exceptional, with one participant telling us:

“We have had some very good workshops run by Slough & Langley College. It is so beneficial to attend all five workshops by Shehla Nayyer to build our confidence and knowledge up. I would love to do other courses if you run in future like that as our tutor Shehla is so supportive, genuine and dedicated with full of knowledge. We learnt lots of new life skills which boost our confidence.

I met some fantastic super women. Many ladies felt relaxed and comfortable after attending these sessions. They were able to open their pent-up emotions. I would like to have more such sessions to build confidence and speak more, to open up and accept you the way you are. I enjoyed this course as I had chance to interact with lovely people. I have improved my knowledge, positivity, and confidence, through excellent guidance, and the course encouraged full time mums to continue this learning journey and enrol on further courses.”

Jacqui Shadrache, Outreach Officer for the Children Centre, was also impressed:

“I have found the facilitator of the group very approachable, and she has a very pleasant nature. The attendees have always said how they enjoy the sessions. There is a real bond with the group. I attended the first session and was so pleased to have this group running in our Centre.”
