Parent and Carer Hub

We believe developing strong links with parents, carers and guardians is critical to ensuring students are well supported during their time at the College.

This page offers guidance on how we communicate with parents and carers.

Google Guardians

All parents and carers of under 18s will automatically be added to Google Classroom as a ‘Guardian’ by the end of September.

As a guardian, you can get email summaries about your student’s activity in Classroom. Email summaries do not include grades.
In email summaries, you can review:

  • Missing work—Work not turned in when the summary was sent.
  • Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails).
  • Class activities—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers.

If there’s no activity to report or if a teacher turns off email notifications, you might not get an email summary.

If you did not receive an invite to Google Guardians during September please contact learning.technology@windsor-forest.ac.uk

Parent & Carer Reports

All parents and carers of under 19s will receive formal reports at set points throughout the academic year. Your young person’s teacher or a member of the Student Services team might also send you a snapshot report outside of formal reporting windows including attendance and progress.

To request a parent/carer snapshot report please contact us below.

Tutoring

All full time students are allocated an individual personal tutor. As well as helping keeping your student on track with their studies, their personal tutor will also play a central role in supporting their college experience. They are the first point of contact for any problems relating to your student’s course or concerns inside and outside of the College. Their role is to provide support and guidance and help students access other services if necessary.

Safeguarding

We have robust safeguarding procedures and policy in place to ensure students feel safe and secure, know how to request and receive help if they are in danger and learn how to keep themselves safe (including online).

Should your child have any worries about themselves or about someone they know, they can contact the Safeguarding Team by emailing Safeguarding.fe@windsor-forest.ac.uk

Financial Support

We have a number of bursary and loan schemes in place to support students (subject to eligibility) with the costs of compulsory books, trips, equipment, fees, childcare and travel. Some students will also be entitled to Free College Meals. We also offer a range of travel subsidies for both train and bus companies. For more information visit our financial support and travel schemes pages.

Reporting an Absence

Good attendance will have a positive impact on your child’s outcome at college and we expect them to attend 100% of their classes, including Core Studies, English and Maths. However if you need to report your child’s absence you can do so by accessing our ‘absence line’ system or you can contact us as listed below:
