Course Overview

This course will enable candidates to select the most appropriate solar system for a building based on the client’s needs and to install and maintain any of the common systems in the UK safely and efficiently.

Upon completion of this course candidates will successfully be able to install, commission, decommission, service and solar thermal hot water systems.

The course price quoted includes assessment and certification and is VAT exempt.

This is a Level 3 qualification of 10 credits and 80 guided learning hours consisting of 5 mandatory units that comprise of practical and theoretical elements. ALL units must be achieved to achieve the overall qualification.

Course information

This is a Level 3 qualification of 10 credits and 80 guided learning hours consisting of 5 mandatory units that comprise of practical and theoretical elements. ALL units must be achieved to achieve the overall qualification.

The course module covers:
– Know the requirements to install, commission and handover solar thermal hot water systems
– Install, commission and handover ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
– Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems
– Inspect, service and maintain ‘active’ solar thermal hot water systems

The course is assessed via a multiple choice, open book theory assessment.
This is 1 hour 55 minutes and consists of 56 questions.

There is also a practical assessment in which the candidate has to complete a practical job sheet.

Learners may progress to undertake the LCL awards Installation and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pumps Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits) to gain a broader knowledge of other available systems.
