We are committed to supporting all our learners and have put together a suite of support services that will help you during your time at College. Whether you need in class, 1:1 or group support, or have additional needs, speak with our team of advisors to ensure you get the help you need to succeed.
What support can I get?
In Class
Some classes have a Learning Coach in the classroom during teaching. They identify who they need to support and they can help you by:
- Assisting with literacy and numeracy content in your course
- Re-explaining concepts taught by the tutor
- Checking you have understood tasks and instructions
Small Group or 1:1
We can provide support outside the classroom in either smaller groups or as one-to-one sessions. These could be one off or regular sessions depending on what you need at the time. The sessions could cover:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Use of assistive technology
- Mentoring for students with EHCPs
Use of specialist equipment such as speech to text software, tracker balls, high contrast keyboards and screen overlays are also available.
Access Arrangements
If you have a specific need you may be entitled to Access Arrangements. These arrangements allow learners with special educational needs, disabilities or temporary injuries to access their assessment without changing the demands of the assessment. You may need to undergo a screening assessment to formally apply for your Access Arrangements to the awarding body for your course.
Support for Students with Disabilities
We want to ensure that learners with disabilities are fully supported in applying to the college. We can help with arrangements for course interviews, details about access and specialist support within the classroom and around college.
