Course Overview

This is a one-year course that will develop the skills that you need for a career within hairdressing.
As well as teaching you essential and artistic hairdressing skills and techniques, the Level 1 Diploma will also develop your practical skills to prepare you for salon life.
You will learn everything from shampooing and conditioning services, plaiting and twisting hair, creating a hair and beauty image and the art of styling hair, right through to communication, teamwork, and how to provide excellent customer service.

Course information

One Academic Year

A combination of Tutor led demonstrations, student participation & practice, theory delivery and commercial salon that will led on to formative & summative assessments.

You will be assessed by a combination of practical assessments (performing services and techniques on clients) and course work.

Level 1 CG Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector

16-19 year olds will study Maths and/or English if this GCSE is not achieved on entry. Students will attend a 1 week block of Industry placement part of their full study programme.

This course could lead to employment as a salon assistant or a similar junior salon role.

Level 1

A Kit & Unifrom must be purchased within 6 weeks of enrolling for the course. Details of the Kit & Uniform are handed out during the enrollment process. Bursaries are available for those who are eligible – subject to individual assessment.
